On January 10, 2024, Partner and co-chair of the Cannabis Practice Group James Greifzu was quoted in Cannabis Business Times’s article, “Poised for Growth: Reflections on Connecticut’s 1st Year of Adult-Use Cannabis Sales.”
As Connecticut marks one year since it has legalized adult-use cannabis sales, the Cannabis Business Times highlights areas that are working well within Connecticut’s cannabis industry, reflections of improvement, and industry growth in 2024. The article describes the adult-use program as stagnant with barriers to entry for some, regarding regulations governing the social equity program. James suggests, “regulators offer additional guardrails for investors, such as certain approval rights, the ability to control the board, and a requirement that certain, larger decisions be made jointly by all business owners.” James adds, “That’s the sort of baseline comfort that private capital needs.”
