Wiggin and Dana Launches Independent Brand for Emerging Company, Venture Capital Clients

Wiggin and Dana announced the launch of wiggin(x), a new division designed to meet the needs of emerging and high growth companies, their investors and their founders. Already a leading law firm for emerging company and venture capital transactions in the Northeast, serving hundreds of clients in the space every year, the division’s brand reflects how its lawyers work with clients – not as detached legal experts but as trusted advisors and integrated team members who intimately understand their clients. As former startup founders, GCs of venture-backed companies, and investors themselves, the wiggin(x) team understands the challenges their clients face each and every day and they have the experience required to guide their clients to creative solutions. More information can be found at www.wigginx.com.

“The new brand reflects how we already operate in the marketplace,” said Len Gray, a wiggin(x) Founder and Partner. “Investors and founders seek out lawyers to help with issues and needs common to other entrants in the space. What sets us apart is that the wiggin(x) platform allows us to provide high level service while also providing the flexibility to find creative and cost-efficient solutions. We built the brand to demonstrate the intense focus and broad range of partner-level experience we bring to emerging companies, founders and venture investors, and how we align our insights and counsel with the world in which our clients operate their businesses. In this way, everyone in the emerging company ecosystem should easily see a place for themselves with wiggin(x), confident of partner-level support at every stage.”

With more than 35 lawyers dedicated to the practice, Wiggin and Dana has served emerging, high-growth and venture-backed businesses for decades. Pitchbook reports that Wiggin is among the most active venture capital practices in the Northeast, having served more than 250 clients in 2021 in the tech-heavy Boston to New York corridor. In addition to providing sophisticated counsel on a wide range of funding transactions, Wiggin attorneys provide clients a full stack solution, with areas of specialization that include M&A, intellectual property, licensing and tech transfers, employment, immigration, tax, fund formation, international trade compliance, dispute resolution, commercial contracting, real estate and more.

“Founders and companies seek actionable advice that can propel them from their earliest stages through funding to scale, navigating the full range of mission-critical issues, from funding rounds and IP to compliance and disputes,” said Paul Hughes, former Managing Partner of Wiggin and Dana and a wiggin(x) Founder and Partner. “Angel investors, venture and private equity firms and family offices approach us to help them review targets, structure investments, complete due diligence and close deals. On either side of the transaction, we are trusted partners every step of the way, helping clients navigate the shifting environment and maximize their opportunities.”

Wiggin and Dana recently advised:

We are proud to be a firm at which our lawyers can take initiative, design services and innovate to better meet the needs of clients in a rapidly evolving marketplace. We are extremely excited for the future of wiggin(x).”
