As an advisor who has been working with entrepreneurs in the startup space for two decades, I strive to be much more than your typical kind of lawyer.
Mike Kasdan works with start-ups, entrepreneurs, and emerging companies to ensure that their IP strategy is aligned and integrated with their business strategy. Mike combines business acumen, a deep understanding of and ability to digest complex technologies, and over two decades of experience in crafting every manner of agreement that touches on IP, from third-party contractor agreements to sophisticated IP license agreements. He has a unique ability to distill complex topics and to explain, convey, and address IP issues in a way that businesspeople can understand.
Mike has been a part of the NY-startup ecosystem since his time at law school and has continued to be a fixture in that community, participating as an educator at various start-up incubators, accelerators, and entrepreneurship centers, including NYU’s Startup School. He is passionate about the creative process, ideas, and technology and enjoys the challenge of helping entrepreneurs to build and to do so smartly, strategically, and in a scalable manner, all while recognizing that start-ups at this phase are resource constrained. When Mike works with a client, that client’s team gets a responsive, creative, strategic thinker to help implement and innovate on the legal side of things.
Mike is a father, a retired Little League baseball and softball coach, a writer, and a social justice, mental health, and wellbeing advocate.
